UN Sustainable Development Goals: what we are doing

Millennium bcp's contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in the context of the 2021 Sustainability Master Plan

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), approved in September 2015, represent the largest global voluntary commitment - already formalized by 193 countries on five Continents - and aim to improve the quality of life of the world population - in the social, environmental and economic dimensions - until 2030.

Considering that the pursuit of its 17 objectives, and its 169 goals, implies a joint effort by states, civil society and private entities, namely companies, the Bank is committed to working actively towards sustainable development, socially inclusive and environmentally responsible, in all geographies in which it operates.

Millennium bcp's involvement in the achievement of the SDGs can be found in the Bank's headquarters, particularly in its relationship with people and its ability to add social value, but also in the search for innovative products and distribution channels and inclusive and in the spirit of customer service.

The BCP recognizes in the SDGs a unifying and aspirational frame of reference that will allow the drafting of a new "social contract" and stimulate processes of change that the economic, social and environmental reality imposes and demands on us.

Thus, in the context of a continuous process with which it is intended to establish the relationship - and to identify the points of convergence - between the Bank's activity, its ethical values and company culture, and that recommended by the SDGs, we have identified and characterized, in the framework of the PDS - Sustainability Master Plan 2021, the Bank's contribution to the achievement of the Goals and the way we are adapting our value proposition in the different operations to the needs and expectations of the interested parties (see Sustainability Report 2019 and Report of the Millennium bcp Foundation 2019).

BCP has identified, at this stage, as priorities for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, SDGs 1 (Eradicate Poverty), 4 (Quality Education), 5 (Gender Equality), 7 (Renewable and Accessible Energies) , 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), 10 (Reduce Inequalities), 13 (Climate Action), 15 (Protect Earth Life) and 17 (Partnerships for the Implementation of the Goals).

Based on our interpretation of the needs, expectations and ambitions of our Employees, Clients, Shareholders and other Stakeholders, we will pursue a strategy that continues to impact the interests of People, families, companies and society in general in the value chain, knowing that, in this way, we will be contributing to sustainable, fair, ethical development and adapted to a changing world.
