Millennium bcp supports the 8th edition of “Festival ao Largo”...

Will take place between 8 and 30 of July another edition of the “Festival ao Largo Millennium bcp”. So, are backing again to the São Carlos square the great spectacles of music, opera, dance and theatre.

With a program mainly composed of Portuguese Symphony Orchestra performances, the chorus of the National Theatre of São Carlos and the National Ballet Company, the 8th edition of the “Festival ao Largo Millennium bcp” presents as big news the invitations to the Gulbenkian Orchestra and Metropolitan Orchestra of Lisbon to go up to the stage at São Carlos square, recovering the spirit of the great concerts of symphonic repertoire. Still in the music, deserve particular reference Mário Laginha, who will be present at the Festival in the double quality of composer and pianist.

In celebration of the 400 year anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, four nights will be dedicated to the work of the English poet and playwright. The Festival will evoke yet another event, in this case the invitation addressed by the British Government to Portugal, 100 year ago, to join the allies in the 1st World War, having in fact the programme of this edition been structured in collaboration with the Estoril International Music Festival and with the support of the Institute of Contemporary History.

Regular presence in recent years in the square has been the Youth Symphony Orchestra, chamber of the great Portuguese professional orchestras, who returns to get introduced to the public with a diverse and demanding program. Also the Opera will be back at this Festival: in addition to the guest soloists, the chorus of the National Theatre of São Carlos and Portuguese Symphony Orchestra bid farewell to the public with this show.

The Festival off Millennium bcp ends, as usual, with the presence of the National Ballet Company, which features a repertoire programme where they meet some of the choreographers that more marked the history of dance.

The support for this initiative is also include in the social responsibility strategy of Millennium bcp, which considers a priority to act socially in the field of culture, leading to public art increasingly comprehensive and diversified artistic forms, what constitutes a contribution to the cultural enrichment of the country.
