How to use it

Western Union transfer service is available as follows:

  • At, available 24/7 (exclusively for registered Clients);
  • Through Millennium bcp's branches (whether you are a Client or not);
  • By calling the Western Union Phone Service (exclusively for Clients with Multichannel Access Code):

You can:

Send money

  • Go to "Transfers > Western Union" and choose the service you wish: "Money in Minutes", "6 Hours service" or "Next day";
  • Enter the amount you wish to transfer;
  • Take note of the MTCN code provided when you complete the operation; . If the operation is registered, you can view the MTCN code in the Transactions History or you can receive it in your inbox;
  • The amount due will be debited from your current account;
  • Please inform the Receiver of the MTCN code whenever the country of destination of the transfer requires that information to pay out the transfer and, if applicable, provide the Code-Word as well;
  • As of that moment the receiver, duly identified, may go to any Western Union agent at the destination country, anywhere in the world and pick up the money you sent.

For security reasons, the Bank may need to confirm the operation, which in this case may be logged to be processed later.
Western Union transfers where the sender and the receiver are the same person are not allowed in various countries, such as England, Brazil and Spain.   • Go to "Transfers > Receive Money";
  • Enter the account where you wish to receive the money;

If you are a receiver of Western Union transfers, you may choose to receive the money in one of the following manners:

  • credit into your account (exclusively for Clients registered at;
  • cash withdrawal:
    In Portugal - at a Millennium bcp branch (whether you are a client of Millennium bcp or not),
    Abroad - at any Western Union agent.

    How to use the Phone Service:

    • Provide your account number and name, as well as the three numbers of your Multichannel Access Code randomly requested (for instance: 2nd, 4th and 6th).
    • State the country of destination of the transfer, the amount to be sent and the name of the receiver.
    • Give permission to debit the amount to be transferred plus the fee from your account. Please wait for a few moments until our operator provides you with the MTCN (Money Transfer Control Number).

    Your transfer will be made while you just stay where you are, without the need to fill out forms or added costs.
