Warning - Fraudulent e-mails CTT Expresso - Do not open links

Once again, several customers and non-customers of Millennium bcp have been getting e-mails, supposedly sent by the Portuguese postal services CTT with the subject "(random number) O seu pacote nao entregado" ("(random number) your package undelivered), stating that the company was unable to deliver a package.

Example of the e-mail sent:

This is another case of Phishing by resorting to the installation of malware that adulterates thebrowsers when you access bank websites.

The link of the message: “Informacoes sobre a pista do seu pacote” (information to track our package) gives access to a fictitious CTT website, from where the file “informações_cede4cf63965d1fb0d69971a5ae58aba.rar” containing the malicious file is downloaded. When the file is executed, it installs the malicious software on your computer.

After this, we verified that when accessing, after you enter your username, it may request additional data, for instance more than three numbers of the multichannel code.

Phishing Example:

We remind you once again that Millennium bcp's website is accessed using a Username and three random positions of the Multichannel Code and that Millennium bcp never requests any data concerning the Client's mobile phone, therefore any such request is a fraud attempt.

Please be aware that Phishing aims to, abusively, steal personal data through messages that take the user to fake websites, or to download and install malware, therefore please consider reading our Security Newsletter “Fraudulent e-mails”, posted in the Security webpage on May 2014.
