In addition, the Group uses a Statutory Auditor and an external auditing firm to audit the individual andconsolidated accounts of the Bank, whose appointment is resolved at the General Meeting.
The members of the governing bodies were elected at the General Meeting of Shareholders held on 30 May 2018 to perform duties for the three-year period 2018-2021. Nuno Amado (former CEO) was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors and Miguel Maya was appointed Chairman of the Executive Committee.

New Governance Code
In January 2018, the new Corporate Governance Code, issued by the Portuguese Institute of Corporate Governance and in line with the best international practices and trends, entered into force. The new code pays increased attention to information flows, to the operation of the governing and, in particular, supervisory bodies, to conflicts of interest and to transactions with related parties, to the role of independent directors, gender diversity in the composition of governing bodies, and to risk management.
